Empowerment and the path to success

Empowerment is not about women trying to make it in a man’s world. For women, the path to success is different from men’s. So empowerment is really about us embracing our own path to success because it’s everyone’s world.

Women have come a long way, but there is still a prevailing issue of insecurity and lack of confidence. A recent poll by the Institute of Leadership and Management, UK found that 73% of women believe there’s a glass ceiling preventing them from reaching the top.

So how do women create their own path to success?

Often, trying to succeed in business the same way as men, does not work for women. This is because we have a different definition of success than men.

QI Group QNET CSR RYTHM Foundation

(In case the picture doesn’t load, it says:
Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.
)

The famous Chinese proverb above is one to which the QI Group subscribes. Our corporate social responsibility arm, RYTHM Foundation, was set up based on QI’s corporate values and philosophy, Raise Yourself To Help Mankind. Beyond monetary donation, it’s important to empower people with the necessary tools and skills to improve their lives.

Just a few weeks ago, on May 31, QI hosted a panel discussion in Singapore called “How Values Drive Business: Striking a balance between values and making profits in a business”, and I was really excited to be one of the panellists. What an insightful and inspiring evening it was, exchanging thoughts and ideas with some of the brightest minds advocating CSR today!

What is rock star income? If you’re in the network marketing industry and you’re making USD100,000 a month, that’s rock star income. Network marketing gives ordinary people the extraordinary opportunity to make something incredible out of their lives. It’s not easy and to get there you first need to master the basics:

My daughter, Lalli, wrote a wonderful article that was featured in Networking Times’ Nov-Dec 2011 issue. In the spirit of Mother’s Day, I’d like to share it with all my readers.

A Traveling Mom

Lalli and Mom

Lalli the Love of Mom's Life, and Mom

I did not grow up in a normal household situation. I was raised in a single-parent household with my mom taking on the role of both mother and father. We moved around a lot so I constantly had to make new friends and because of Mom’s profession as a network marketer, she had to travel quite often.
